The key to preventing mold growth is to try and limit moisture and exposure to natural material. Begin by ensuring that all piping is sealed and not leaking in any way. Remove all materials that mold could feed on, including cardboard, wood, and paper. Then, install a dehumidifier to help dry the air in the space. Additionally, ensure your basement or room has proper draining and that all walls are sealed to prevent excess moisture. If possible, always use moisture-resistant drywall, paint, and metals studs/framing in comparison to wooden ones.
